The Future of Food in the UK

Yesterday there was a vote on an Agricultural Bill – namely an amendment that proposed that the UK should not accept imports of food of lower quality and production standards than those currently held in the UK. The Tory government voted it down. Labour has become a party that supports British farming.

It’s all very depressing how this government has such a mighty majority and will do for SO long.

So what can I do? I am doing my best to get involved in the nitty gritty of food security by reading up around the subject, attending webinars and subscribing to organisations such as Sustain and the Real Bread Campaign.

Feeling really quite demotivated today. But I did pick up some lovely fruit and veg from a local greengrocers and am looking forward to lunch.

Let them eat cake. Eugh.
